Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care has been around for over 100 years (122 years to be exact) but many people are still unsure exactly what chiropractors do and what chiropractors can treat.

As we are passionate about educating our client’s on chiropractic care, we’ve provided some information for you below.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic means by hand. It is a type of care that works specifically with the nervous system to ensure that it is working optimally. Chiropractic assumes you to be born healthy and not sick. We work within this premise and assume that you are a self-regulating, self-healing individual. If you are sick, have pain or organ system issues then we know that something is out of balance.

Chiropractic and the Nervous System

Chiropractors are experts on the nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves) and work mainly with the bones that protect the nervous system. The nervous system is the master control system and controls absolutely everything in the body. If there is a nerve interference then we improve or remove that disruption to allow full communication from your brain to your body. Shifting from sickness and disease to health and vitality.

When chiropractors find a dysfunctional area of the spine or misalignment it is most commonly from accidents, injuries, traumas, postural stress, overuse etc. This causes the smaller muscles around the joints to become tight and thus twisting the vertebrae making them more prominent or ‘stuck.’ To fix these joint restrictions chiropractors use various types of gentle adjustments. This helps to retrain the brain-body connection and allows your body to heal faster.

The Chiropractic Approach

The chiropractic approach is a gentle, natural, non-invasive approach that gets your amazing body to work the way it was meant to. Each adjustment addresses bad habits and stuck patterning in your nervous system. A course of chiropractic care serves to retrain, re-educate and coach your body to better neurological function.

Who Can Receive Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic adjustments are adapted to the individual client and are done using gentle low amplitude, high-velocity techniques. There are many ways that patients can be adjusted. As long as the joint is moved in the same way (the biomechanics are the same) it does not matter the way it is done. Therefore, the technique used depends on what works best for the individual and by preference.
